Cookie Love by Mindy Segal {a cookbook review}

It isn't typical for me to get a new cookbook and immediately start trying recipes from it within 24 hours.
Well...Cookie Love by Mindy Segal is different. It totally lit my baking fire and created a cookie craving that had to be tamed by trying out some recipes.
What was the recipe that I just had to try right away?
Oatmeal Scotchies.
Growing up they were my favorite cookie. My dad and I would fight over the last one of the batch whenever my grandma would make them. Of course we would split it in half to share...
But, it is rare to see a recipe for them in cookbooks. So when I saw it I knew I had to make it right away.
Success. Mindy Segal knows what she is doing when she is baking. She has earned her reign as cookie queen. That's for sure.
At least on my shelf of cookbooks! The last cookie-devoted book I picked up was Martha Stewart's,..so it has been a while since I have found a cookie book worthy of glancing through. These cookies are common recipes, but with a new twist. All the classics are kicked up a notch, but the cookies don't lose their classy tastes at all.
The book is beautifully created. The photographs really capture how wonderful the cookies are. The inside cover is absolutely mouth-watering. I really love that every photo is of the cookies. Not of some crazy set-up that distracts from the food itself. It also helps that Segal isn't in the photos. I find in many cookbooks when people are in the photos, it distracts from the actual recipe and food itself.
Segal's tips and tricks in the kitchen definitely will help any baker in the kitchen. Even a beginning cookie baker would be able to master any of the cookies that in the book.
There is a broad range of cookie types as well. There is at least one or two that will please anyone in the family.

My personal favorite section is "drop cookies".
However, I am so PLEASED that there is a section for: shortbread, sandwich, and spritz cookies. All of these I have wanted to experiment more (I have never been successful with shortbread cookies and I am determined to master at least one of the recipes in this book) and now I will be able to tackle them with a strong background and WONDERFUL step-by-step instructions. Segal leaves no piece of information out so anyone will be able to master her cookies!

**I received this cookbook for review from bloggingforbooks in exchange for an honest review**
