Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa

These cold winter days means that hot cocoa is almost an everyday drink in our house!
We have one of those great coco-motion machines that swirls the milk and cocoa all around and heats it at the same time. It is spectacular!
But, I was needing some delicious hot cocoa for a crowd. What better way to keep it warm and easily accessible than to make it in the slow cooker? Brilliant idea!
I had the hot cocoa in the slow cooker with a ladle next to it, and of course a bowl full of mini marshmallows!
It was rich and delicious, and not to hot to drink right away.
You can use dark chocolate, semi-sweet, milk, or even white (I love it with milk chocolate or white, so tasty)
Play around and add some dark and some white...milk and some semi-sweet...you get the idea. It is just really good stuff!

And, yes...I am aware I missed my "Thirsty Thursday" cutoff by a few days. The flu stuff has decided to hang out in my daughter this past week and not a lot has been accomplished. This flu just doesn't ever want to leave this year!

Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa

1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups heavy cream
6 cups milk (I used whole milk to make it really thick and hold the chocolate well)
1 12oz bag of chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla

In the crock of the slow cooker combine all the ingredients and set it to high.
Stir after about 20 minutes, and continue every 10 minutes or so until all the chocolate has melted.
Reduce to low and let sit during your party.

I started cooking the cocoa about 1 hour before the party started, and as the cocoa was disappearing, I switched my slow cooker to the warm setting so it wouldn't get too hot for what was in the crock.
