Repair Loose Book Pages (DIY)

Yesterday I posted a simple tutorial on how to fix book binding, and today I will show you how I repaired the loose cookbook pages.
Luckily this cookbook had one loose page by itself, and then an insert of about 10 pages or so that came out together, but were bound to each other still...does that make sense?

It looked like this:

Tools needed:

  • Scissors
  • Glue (not school glue, I used craft glue)
  • Wax paper
  • Rubber bands
Using the scissors cut the edges of the paper to match the size of the book pages again. They probably are ripped, torn, wrinkled and look like mine did. Just to tidy it up some :)

Cut the wax paper into strips longer than the length of the book and about two or three inches wide.
Lay one strip of the wax paper flush against the spine of the book and line the spine with the glue:

Lay the loose pages in place making sure the glue is on the edge of the papers:

Once the pages are in place, run glue along the spine again over the top of the pages, then lay the other strip of wax paper over the top loose page, inserted into the spine also.
Close the book and wrap rubber bands around the book immediately.
Let sit and dry for at least 3 or 4 hours, I let mine sit overnight to make sure it was dry and in place.

Remove the rubber bands, and pull out the wax paper. Some might stick to the glue, but it should rip out easily leaving a little bit in the glue (you won't notice it later).
Then it will look like this! Almost like new:
