Okay, time for the photos. They are pretty nasty. Really nasty. I purchased a pack-and-play to use for my daycare kiddos when I was just getting started. I no longer have this one, but I was able to get it to look good as new for the next owner :)
I bought it second-hand already, and it was covered with chocolate milk stains. I mean really covered. But look at my before and after photos!
So how did this miracle happen you ask?
Well with some baking soda, dish soap and hydrogen peroxide of course (and lots of elbow grease)
I bought a little dish tub and scrubber at the Dollar Tree to use for this project.
In the tub I added:
- 1 part dish soap (they say Dawn is the best, I had generic on hand, and it worked)
- 1 part baking soda
- 2 parts hydrogen peroxide
Since this was a large surface area to cover this equaled:
- 1/2 cup dish soap
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 cup hydrogen peroxide
Here is before I started scrubbing the mixture on:
this is with me scrubbing the mixture on, you can already see the stains disappearing:
I let it sit and soak for about 30 minutes. If it was smaller, like a t-shirt I would just toss it in the washing machine at this point with the laundry. But this is a large mat to a pack-and play, so I propped it in the bathtub, and used the shower head to spray it clean. Then I let it sit and dry. When it was done it looked like this:
Almost good as new! There was still a little wet spot in the middle when I took this photo, but you can see how amazing this simple stain remover is! Go get rid of all the stains you find!
