Cake Mix Rice Crispy Treats

Let me start this post out by saying: "I am so glad that I do in-home daycare so I can send treats home with the kid's parents at pick-up time so I don't have to eat it all, because otherwise I would."
Okay, so I came across these while searching for a new rice crispy recipe to try (www.howsweeteats.com). I love rice crispy treats, and I'll be the first to admit that they never turn out "right" for me. The top is never smooth, when I use wax paper to try to smooth it, pieces get stuck to it and then it all looks even worse.
I also cannot wait for them to set up before I spoon into them. Yes, spoon. You know, spoon out some while they are still gooey...oh yeeeeah!! But I make them and pretend they look as perfect as they taste. I mean, despite how they look, they always taste good!
So when I came across these I had to try them right away.
Just a few notes:
*Add more cake mix for a richer cake flavor
*The longer you let them set up before spooning them out, the cake flavor does get a wee bit stronger
*Read my following post on what to do with that remaining cake batter

Cake Mix Rice Crispy Treats
3 Tbsp butter
1 10.5oz bag mini marshmallows
3/4 cup yellow cake mix
6 cups crispy rice cereal
Fun colored sprinkles, altogether I used 4 tablespoons of sprinkles

In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter and marshmallows.
Stir in cake batter a little bit at a time until all is well combined and marshmallows are thoroughly melted.
Stir in cereal mix and 1 1/2 tablespoons of the sprinkles.
Mix until all is well combined.
Pour and spread evenly into a baking dish.
Top with the remaining sprinkles.

Let set, cut and enjoy!
Now to make cake mix chocolate chip cookies!
