Grinch Cookies

How The Grinch Stole Christmas is one of my daughter's favorite movies...year-round.
She will first watch the cartoon and then the movie with Jim Carey. She just loves them both.
So the other day when we were planning on having a "Grinch Party Day" and watch both of the movies, she insisted we make cookies to munch on while we enjoy the movies.
Her friend was over and I really didn't have the patience to decorate sugar cookies with Grinch faces, like she had requested.
That's when I remember seeing people coloring cookies green and calling them Grinch cookies.
Works for me!

I decided to go with the cake mix version of a crackle cookie, because they are able to pretty much do every part of the cookie themselves.

They were pretty pleased with their cookies! And yes, my daughter has a cookies stuffed in her cheek :)

They loved eating these while watching the movies. I found some free Grinch printables online and printed those off as well. We colored, drank some hot cocoa, munched on cookies and watched the Christmas classic!

Grinch Cookies

Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 8-9 min
Ingredients (24 cookies)
  • 1 box white or vanilla cake mix
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Green food coloring
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350.
Mix together the cake mix, melted butter and egg until soft dough forms.
Add green food coloring to reach your desired tint of green. (I used a lot, or else they fade)
In a small bowl whisk together the powdered sugar and cornstarch.
Using a medium cookie scoop, scoop out balls of the dough and roll into the powdered sugar mixture.
Place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet.
Bake 8-9 minutes, or until edges or slightly brown.
Cookies will be puffy, cool on wire racks.
