Chocolate Chip Cookies IV ***

Here it is: Cookie number 4 in my mission to find the best chocolate chip cookie recipe.

This is a very soft cookie (remember Soft Batch cookies, in the red bag?) they remind me of those!
They puffed up nicely and were "melt-in-your-mouth" soft.
I gave these cookies 3 stars. They were soft, obviously, and very enjoyable, but didn't have a strong, distinct flavor that I love so much in my cookies. I think these were my daycare kiddos favorite cookie because they were gone in no time!

So why are these cookies so soft? It might be the "secret" ingredient of cornstarch.
I found this recipe in a newspaper clipping stuffed in my recipe box. It was old and discolored, I had never made it before, but these remind me of the cookies you would leave out for Santa. Is that weird? :)

Chocolate Chip Cookies IV

2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375°

In a medium-sized mixing bowl combine flour, baking soda, salt and cornstarch.
In a large mixing bowl cream together butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs.
Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture and mix until combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Roll the dough into balls (I did about a tablespoon-sized ball)
Bake on ungreased baking sheets for 8-10 minutes or until edges are slightly brown.
Don't over bake!
Let sit on cookie sheet a minute or two before removing to cooling racks.
Cool completely.
